Trump’s ex-adviser Roger Stone sentenced to 40 months in prison

Former US presidential adviser Roger Stone was sentenced to 40 months in jail after the Department of Justice abandoned its initial sentence of seven years, AP reports.

Stone is accused of giving false testimony to Congress, preventing the House of Representatives from investigating Russian interference in the 2016 elections. He denies all allegations, considering them politically motivated.

Donald Trump said earlier that what is happening to Stone is unfair and should not be repeated.

Stone became the sixth assistant or adviser to Trump, who was indicted on the basis of a special investigation by Robert Muller on the so-called “Russian intervention.”
