Rumors about the possible participation of the director of the film “Thor: Ragnarok” by Taiki Waititi in the development of the film universe “Star Wars” were confirmed. According to The Hollywood Reporter, citing official information, he is indeed the director of one of the next films in this series.
Taika Waititi will prepare a script for the film in collaboration with Krysty Wilson-Cairns, who previously worked on the military drama “1917”. The timing of work on a new episode of Star Wars is not yet known. Recall that previously an unnamed project was announced, the action of which should take place “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away ….”. It is declared on the run on December 16, 2022. It is likely that it is with this film that the New Zealand director will have to work.
In 2019, Waititi was awarded the Academy Award for Best Screenplay. Among all other film projects, he will also take part in the film adaptations of Marvel comics. His film “Thor 4: Ragnarok” is due to be released worldwide in February 2022.
It should be noted that the announcement of the appointment of Waititi was made on the International Star Wars Day, which is traditionally celebrated on May 4.
