Scientists at the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Nutrition Research Center have called avocados one of the best fruits for weight loss because it has a unique effect. In addition to the fact that avocados have a large number of useful elements, it also saturates the body with the hormone leptin.
This hormone is responsible for the state of satiety. If the level of leptin is high, then the person will not want to eat. This effect can be used by people who want to lose weight.
Researchers even conducted an experiment that showed the effectiveness of avocados in losing weight. They offered the participants two meals – an avocado or other low-fat food. Those people who regularly chose avocados lost weight more effectively, since half of the medium-sized avocado will saturate the body more than a low-fat lunch.
“Consuming avocados helps to increase the level of the hormone, and when it is reduced, a person feels hunger. The sensible use of healthy fats effectively suppresses hunger and promotes weight control as well as weight loss,” the scientists said.
