Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Chris Rock), along with his partner William Schenk (Max Minghella), undertake to investigate a series of murders and plunge into the mysterious history of his city. As a result, Zeke falls into a trap and becomes embroiled in a terrible game of survival.
Since 2004, eight Saw films, united by a common theme, have earned a rental of $ 976 million. The production of the horror film Saw: Spiral began to be discussed in January 2018. Then it became known that the directors of the eighth part will not take part in the project. Now the director’s chair is occupied by Darren Lynn Bousman, who worked on the second, third and fourth parts of the franchise. According to the director, the heroes will fall into the trap, the largest of all that have been shown in various paintings. Especially for this, large decorations are being built. The creative team assures that the new horror movie will fully comply with the canons of the original film.
Spiral will be the ninth film in the Saws universe, one of the longest running franchises dating back to 2004. Its creator was director James Wan. Since then, the tapes came out annually, but in 2010 it was decided to take a seven-year break. In 2017, the return was a triumph – Saw 8 raised $ 102.9 million at the box office with a budget of $ 10 million.
The world premiere of Saws: Spiral is scheduled for May 15, 2020. It was originally planned that the picture will be released on October 23 of this year. The reasons for the transfer were not specified, however, according to Variety, the decision could be affected by the release on October 16 of the horror movie “Halloween Kills” which could constitute, the new Saw, serious competition.
