Konstantin Kosachev, head of the Russian Federation Council’s foreign affairs committee, said Western sanctions should be lifted from Russia due to a global financial crisis.
Today, March 18, the Council of Federations of Russia made a statement on the lifting of sanctions. It is noted that the head of the committee of the Russian Federation Council on Foreign Affairs, Konstantin Kosachev, said that Western sanctions should be lifted from Russia due to the fact that the world is in financial crisis. The official wrote about this on the blog.
Kosachev proposes a plan according to which all sanctions will be lifted in the world, except for restrictions of the UN Security Council.
In his opinion, a crisis is coming that will hit all states. He noted that oil prices had fallen significantly, and the economies of many developing countries had declined due to the coronavirus.
The official believes that against the backdrop of the global crisis, the Russian Federation and other countries that have been imposed restrictions may begin to talk about removing the stringent restrictions of the West.
He also referred to a statement by politicians from Germany who allegedly also put forward a similar initiative. However, the Bundestag stated that a part could be removed immediately after the implementation of the Minsk agreements. Some officials have advocated the complete lifting of anti-Russian sanctions, but the chancellor will personally decide this question.
Kosachev did not mention the critical situation of Russia due to the oil crisis and the collapsed ruble exchange rate.
