Users can edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents without having to switch between applications
Microsoft has unified Office mobile app for Android smartphones. This was reported by the press service of the company.
With it, users can edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents without having to switch between multiple applications. Previously, the application was available in beta.
In addition, the application also allows you to view files in OneDrive cloud storage, scan documents using the Office Lens tool and read QR codes.
However, the application has several limitations. So, the current version is not optimized for tablets or Chromebooks. Also, the application cannot be used in landscape orientation.
Now the application is available only for the Android platform, information on the timing or even plans for the release of a similar unified application for iOS has not yet been announced.
Last year, the mobile version of Microsoft Word for Android overcame the mark of one billion installations. At the same time, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and OneDrive have over 500 million installations.
