Women are more likely than men to see bad dreams.
Scientific studies by German psychologists have identified the people who are most likely to have nightmares in a dream. During the experiment, it was found that most often nightmares are seen by people with neuroticism and those who are aged. The study was conducted by employees of the Central Institute of Mental Health.
The participants in the experiment were almost 2.5 thousand women and men. Age boundaries ranged from 17 to 93 years. In the beginning, the volunteers passed a questionnaire, where they rated their condition immediately after waking up from nightmares in a dream.
According to experts, a nightmare is a type of sleep in which negative emotions and rapid awakening appear. According to the results of the study, people with “neuroticism” often have bad dreams.
Neuroticism is a personality trait when a person experiences emotional instability, frequent anxiety and low self-esteem. Often there are disorders of the autonomic system. Neuroticism leads to serious mental illness. In addition, women more often than men see bad dreams, and with age, the number of nightmares can increase.
