Cuomo came up with a phased quarantine removal plan in New York

The Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, announced that quarantine will be phased out. He unveiled a plan to open public places and people to leave homes.

The opening of the state begins with construction and production. According to him, on May 15, industrial and construction facilities will resume work in the northern part of the state. Further, enterprises will open depending on how important they are. After the first stage of the opening, there will be a two-week pause to check whether the number of patients with coronavirus starts to increase again.

Cuomo emphasized that a rethinking of how to protect workers, schools and public places from the virus would be required.

The total death toll in New York is currently 16,966, even though the number of new hospitalizations and intensive care cases continues to fall.
