Cannes festival this year will not take place. Neither in real nor in virtual form. Films from his program can be seen at autumn film festivals.
The organizers of the Cannes Film Festival abandoned the idea of trying to hold it both physically and in virtual form in 2020. On Sunday, May 10, in an interview with Variety reported a representative of the festival.
According to him, the organization of a physical festival at the moment in the context of the coronavirus pandemic seems to be “difficult”, therefore, in early June, the organizers will report on the fate of films from the festival program.
The festival, according to its representative, has chosen a strategy of “redistributing” films for autumn festivals, including the Venetian, and part of the program will be shown in movie theaters. There is no official application of the Cannes Film Festival on social networks yet.
Initially, the Cannes Festival was to be held from May 12 to 23. In March, its organizers announced plans to hold it in June. However, these plans were crossed out by the extension of the state of emergency in France until at least July 10th.
